What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?
TapeOp because it makes me feel less-inadequate about low budget recording. Because it attempts to distill all the vinegar from the varied and profound experiences of those greatest minds of creative sound recording.
This book collects the impossible to find first many issues in to categorized sections. I highly recommend it as well as a subscription to the magazine. It is extremely valuable as well for musicians who aspire to themselves be recorded.

thanks so much! i really only started recording as a way to not forget my songs, and to mess around with different harmony and arrangements. I tend to want to hear how things sound different ways before deciding on it's final sound. (that was kind of wordy.) I actually use an iBook, i don't know if the microphones are any worse than powerbooks, but i just thought i'd clarify. I was surprised how well they turned out, because i've desktop microphones before with disastrous results. I have a friend/bandmate who actually owns a home studio, but i wanted to get things in order more before i go in, just to be more efficient. but yeah, thanks, it's always good to hear feedback. =)
